Indonesia finally succeeded in creating the first 3D animated film. The animated film with the title “Meraih Mimpi” (Reach the Dream) produced by Infinite Frameworks (IFW), an animation studio based in Batam – Indonesia. It’s international version has the title “Sing to the Dawn”.

"We are proud to be able to launch “Meraih Mimpi” for Indonesian market," said Managing Director of IFW, Mike Wiluan, in a press conference held at the Hyatt Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (27/7).

The film actually an adaptation of a book with the title Sing to the Dawn from  Minfung Ho. The book tells about 2 brothers who try to protect their residence from the contractor fraudster.

IFW make  Minfung Ho book adaptation based on Singapore government request who would like to make this book among mandatory books to read in several elementary schools in Singapore. From this request,  IFW immediately start producing the film.  For your information, among almost 150 animators, there’s only  5 foreigners.

All production activity was done entirely in Batam for three years and with the cost of 5 million U.S. dollars. This film production was finished in  2008, and began to be distributed to various countries ranging from Singapore, Korea, and Russia. Sing to the Dawn is not directly released in Indonesia because IFW want to introduce Sing to the Dawn for International spectators first.


"Sing to the Dawn does not directly launch Indonesia because we want to reach International recognization   first. After that, we launched a new community in order to know that there is an animation studio in Indonesia," said Vishnu Triatmojo, IFW Spokesman.

Sing to the Dawn in Indonesian version is released this year with the title  Meraih Mimpi. Nia Dinata was recruited to assist in script writing process and Erwin Gutawa asked to re-compose the  music to along this film.

In addition, several famous artists such as Gita Gutawa, Cut Mini, and Shanty, involved as the voice dubber. Meraih Mimpi will start release to the cinemas on 8-9 September 2009, starting from the Network 21 Cinemas.
